if u really don't feel like going out i literally will always stay in but i should get off my ass at some point so pls don't feel if you wanna be outside in somewhere not my apartment. but i DO have netflix.
[ He shows up at her place as promised around seven-ish later that night and goes to ring the doorbell. There's a plastic bag in one hand carrying: two sodas balanced atop non-degradable styrofoam, filled with anything-is-more-authentic-than-Taco-Bell soft tacos and tiny plastic cups of hot sauce meant to burn a layer of skin off your tongue (might be skipping those today).
As for the kid himself, he's out of his uniform but looking clean in a pair of jeans and a sweater (not the same one as the other night, and he's smells like he just took a shower so that's all good). ]
[ as predicted by her earlier, nic has been lazy all afternoon. she's not a slob, per say, but there is a definite untidiness to the apartment. which is all well and good for day to day living, shedoesn't have anything to prove, but when you're trying to impress in the early days an as-yet undefined relationship? safe to say dirty dishes and laundry piles almost as big as nic herself won't do. by the time he arrives it's looking presentable, the kitchen is clean, the front room no longer has empty pizza boxes on the coffee table, and her room is no longer occupied by a floordrobe. it's almost like she's a responsible adult, frankly.
( she hasn't actually done the laundry yet, it's in the spare room. keep the expectations low )
when she answers the door it's half flustered, as though she'd literally just been shoving said laundry in spare room because she'd lost track of time - which is exactly what had happened, because being a responsible adult escapes nicola always. she tugs the door open with a grin though, never mind that she has one hand in her hair and an elastic in her mouth because she's halfway through tying it up. ]
Right on time! Come in, come in. [ she kicks the door open as she gets back to scraping her hair back into a loose bun. ] Is that mexican? If you brought me mex I might pledge my undying loyalty to you right here and now.
[ He blinks at her for a moment before a sheepish grin starts to form. It makes him feel a bit guilty for showing up before she finished getting ready, but he likes when she's in mid-motion like this. Something about catching her not quite prepared puts him at ease (like nothing's really all that different).
After a second the bag in his hand gets raised. ]
Best mexican in town, straight from the truck. [ It's the truth (and it's actually not half bad for mexican food in a town up north in the middle of nowhere). He steps into the room and toward the kitchen table to set the bag down, taking out the napkins and soda. Busying himself without being overly awkward about it. ]
What's good on Netflix?
[ He's not exactly up to date on his television. The school year is for school - and going out lately, and his breaks are spent working. No time for binge watching anything. ]
